The Sacramento Kings’ head coach, Mike Brown, has yet to accept a lucrative contract extension proposed by the team.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the Kings have put forth a competitive offer, consisting of a three-year deal worth $21 million, extendable up to $27 million with bonuses.
Despite the attractive terms, Brown has not agreed to the extension, reportedly seeking an annual salary of around $10 million.
Brown’s tenure with the Kings began on May 9, 2022, where he took the reins as head coach.
In his debut season, Brown guided the Kings to a commendable 48–34 record, securing the team’s first playoff berth since 2006.
The following year, Brown’s coaching prowess was recognized when he was honored as the NBA Coach of the Year.
Receiving 100 votes, Brown became the first coach in league history to achieve a unanimous selection for the prestigious award.
This season Sacramento failed to qualify for the playoffs after falling into the play-in zone late in the season and being eliminated in the Play-In Tournament.
