NBA insider Brian Windhorst provided insights into the future of Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey. The Australian player, currently on a 4-year, $27 million contract, is poised to become a restricted free agent this offseason.

According to Windhorst, Giddey’s performance this season could shape his future with the Thunder. With the possibility of a contract extension looming, Giddey’s strong play may solidify his position as a key piece of Oklahoma City’s roster or make him an attractive trade asset.

“He’s due a contract extension at the end of the season. If it’s not in Oklahoma City, if he continues to play well at the end of this year, he can be a prime piece of trade bait as the Thunder look to upgrade their roster,” Windhorst said, per Clemente Almanza.

At just 21 years old, Giddey has already showcased his versatility on the court, averaging 12.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in 24.9 minutes per game this season.

As the Thunder continue to rebuild their roster, Giddey’s development and potential impact remain pivotal factors in their long-term plans.
