Toronto Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic has always been a big fan of fellow Serbian/Charlotte Hornets guard Vasilije Micic.

“I know Vasa since our days together with Red Star Belgrade over almost 20 years ago. He was a young player that joined our youth program. I was still coaching with Red Star Belgrade youth program there, and his name just kept popping in our coaches meetings. Monday morning at 11 AM: Vasa Micic did this, Vasa Micic did that. From the start, I was really intrigued about him, so I wanted to go and see some of his games. I’d never coached him at that age directly, but we were with the same team and from the start he was showing a lot, a lot of talent. I’m really happy that he was able to make such a huge impact and such a great career on the international level playing for high level teams in Europe, winning EuroLeague, being MVP of EuroLeague. He accomplished a lot, so I think he’s coming to the NBA at the right time as a mature player and somebody who has to bring a lot to any NBA team.”
