Vlado IlievskiUnion Olimpija loaned their best guard Vlado Ilievski, who came to club as a big einforcment this summer, to Tau Ceramica until the end of this season. Olimpija lost all chances to qualify for Top16 in Euroleague and chances to qualify for Final Four of ABA League are very slim.

The move is very surprising on one hand as Ilievski is only capable point guard on the team (second PG is 17-years-old Mirza Sarajlija) and board was expected to sign new guard this days and not lost one. On the other hand Macedonian didn’t perform well enough for his salary – he is most paid on Olimpija roster. In last game against Buducnost fans booed him, so it wasn’t a surprise player wanted to find a new club.

However, new coach Jure Zdovc counts on him next season and he will eventually returns since he’ll be only loaned to Spanish powerhouse. There’s no word of new guard in Olimpija for now, part of money saved from Ilievski’s salary will be probably spend on debts. Youngsters Sarajlija and Klobucar will share PG duties for now.

Tau Ceramica needed a backup PG for Pablo Prigioni, since Mustafa Shakur turned out to be too much of a “run’n’gun” player.
