Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer notes that Saturday’s blowout loss in Atlanta was particularly concerning for Hornets head coach Steve Clifford.

Despite experiencing numerous losses since his return to the sidelines last season, Clifford was especially disappointed by his team’s lack of competitiveness in this game.

Charlotte’s defeat marked their fourth consecutive loss amid a challenging 17-53 season. Clifford expressed frustration that his players failed to mount a comeback after falling behind early in the game.

“As soon as we started subbing, our intensity went downhill and we never really got it back,” he said. “That was just as poor an effort, and just for a team that’s tried all year, we didn’t try very hard.

“We’re not going to be able to do that. I thought Miles (Bridges) was really good. And in terms of effort, it ended there.”
