Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr recently weighed in on the unique role of veteran point guard Chris Paul in today’s NBA landscape.

Kerr acknowledged Paul’s, who is often ‘Point God,’ exceptional skill set and influence on the game, highlighting him as a “dying breed” in the league.

With the rise of shooters like Stephen Curry shaping the modern point guard archetype, Kerr emphasized the rarity of players with Paul’s pass-first mentality.

Despite the evolving nature of the game, Kerr expressed optimism about the continued presence of players who prioritize playmaking and court vision.

“There just aren’t many guys like him anymore,” Kerr said. “I think Steph [Curry] has really influenced a lot of the young point guards in the league now. Shooting the three is a much bigger deal for the modern point guard compared to guys like Chris. He is a little bit of a dying breed.

“But you hope that we’re still going to be able to produce some pass-first point guards because I think that they just add so much to the game. Chris has been at the top of his craft for a long time.”

As Paul approaches the twilight of his playing days, Kerr’s remarks underscore the significance of his contributions to the sport.
