MIES (Switzerland) – The highly anticipated Olympic Basketball Tournaments Paris 2024 Draws for both men and women are scheduled for March 19 and will take place at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland, at 19:00 CET.

International basketball legends Penny Taylor of Australia and Carmelo Anthony of the USA will perform as hosts for the Draws.

Taylor, the MVP of the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2006 after leading the Opals to the title, claimed Olympic silver medals at the 2004 and 2008 Games. She also played at the 2016 Olympics when Australia were fifth. She was recently inducted to the 2023 Class of FIBA Hall of Fame.

Anthony is second on the all-time scoring list for the USA. He won gold medals at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympics and bronze at the 2004 Athens Games.

With the conclusion of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2024 held in BelgiumBrazilChina, and Hungary, all 12 teams for the women’s draw are now confirmed:

Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Nigeria, Puerto Rico, Serbia, Spain and USA

Eight of the 12 teams for the men’s tournament are already known:

Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Serbia, South Sudan and USA.

France are qualified as hosts and the other nations have qualified at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

Slots in the men’s draw will also be reserved for the winners of the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2024 to be held from July 2nd to July 7th in Riga, Valencia, Piraeus, and San Juan.

The draw principles will be announced at a later stage and will be based on the FIBA World Ranking Men and the FIBA World Ranking Women, presented by Nike, and geographical principles.

The draws will be livestreamed on FIBA’s YouTube channel.
