Former NBA player Lou Williams is pushing for LeBron James to participate in the Slam Dunk Contest, expressing his desire to see the basketball icon showcase his aerial prowess on the big stage.

Williams believes that James, despite being the league’s elder statesman at 39, still possesses the athleticism and dunking ability to captivate fans with his aerial displays.

“I’ve said it, I want to see LeBron [James] do it at least once. He’s been a phenomenal dunker throughout the course of his career. His first two points in the NBA was a huge dunk… It would be fun. I would love to see Bron out there,” Williams remarked during an appearance on FanDuelTV’s Run It Back.

James, a perennial All-Star and one of the greatest players in NBA history, has never participated in the Slam Dunk Contest during his illustrious career.

Despite his advanced age by basketball standards, James continues to defy Father Time with his remarkable physical conditioning and agility on the court, often delivering highlight-reel dunks that leave fans in awe.

While the Slam Dunk Contest traditionally features younger, up-and-coming players eager to make a name for themselves, Williams’ endorsement of James adds a compelling narrative to the event.

The prospect of witnessing the four-time NBA champion would draw significant attention to the Slam Dunk Contest, Williams and Chandler Parsons argued.

NBA insider Shams Charania revealed that defending champion Mac McClung, along with established stars like Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics, and promising rookies Jaime Jaquez Jr. of the Miami Heat and Jacob Toppin of the New York Knicks, will headline this year’s competition.
