As contract extension negotiations hit an impasse, the Toronto Raptors are actively exploring trade possibilities for their 29-year-old forward, Pascal Siakam, who is currently on an expiring contract. Recent reports from Anthony Slater of The Athletic reveal ongoing discussions between the Raptors and the struggling Golden State Warriors regarding a potential trade involving Siakam.

Sources indicate that Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Masai Ujiri, the general managers of the Warriors and Raptors, respectively, have been engaged in talks, with potential deals including Golden State’s Jonathan Kuminga and Chris Paul being mentioned.

Slater reported, “These teams have discussed Siakam in recent weeks. I’ve heard that on a more substantial level and saw Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Masai Ujiri in the tunnel pregame on Sunday night having a drawn-out conversation. So there’s something potentially there.”

While the Warriors may consider the proposed deal — including Kuminga, two first-round picks, and a valuable expiring salary — as steep, it reflects their strategic move to avoid the second apron this summer. Acquiring Siakam would presumably position him as a significant part of their future plans.

In the current season, Siakam has been a key contributor, averaging 22.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 5 assists in 34.8 minutes per game.
