After a not-so-great showing at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, the French National Team is shaking things up in the coaching department. Laurent Foirest won’t be coming back as an assistant coach, and Kenny Atkinson is stepping in to take his place.

In an official announcement, it was stated, “With multiple experiences in France, Europe, and the NBA, Kenny Atkinson met the technical staff’s search criteria. He will bring real added value to the team of technicians already in place.”

Atkinson, who has a background with various French clubs from his playing days, kicked off his coaching career as an assistant with Paris Basket Racing. This club later merged and evolved into the current team recognized as Metropolitans 92.
