In a redemptive performance following criticism in the NBA In-Season Tournament semifinals, Zion Williamson exploded for a season-high 36 points, leading the New Orleans Pelicans (13-11) to a commanding 121-107 victory over the league-leading Minnesota Timberwolves (17-5) on Monday night.

Facing scrutiny for a lackluster showing against the Lakers, Williamson showcased resilience, repeatedly driving to the basket with forceful moves, finishing high off the glass against Minnesota’s Rudy Gobert.

The Pelicans, coming off a demoralizing 133-89 loss to the Lakers, faced a character test and responded emphatically, led by Williamson’s stellar performance and CJ McCollum’s clutch 3-pointers.

McCollum’s timely contributions included nine of his 23 points in the fourth quarter, solidifying the Pelicans’ control of the game.

Despite the absence of leading scorer Anthony Edwards, the Timberwolves fought hard, with Karl-Anthony Towns recording a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
