Amar’e Stoudemire says that earning the 2002-03 NBA Rookie of the Year award will forever stand out to him during his time as a Phoenix Sun.

(via Knuckleheads with Quentin Richardson & Darius Miles):

Stoudemire: “Being the Rookie of the Year out of high school was probably one of my favorite moments because that hasn’t happened before.”

Quentin Richardson: “And they didn’t expect it.”

Stoudemire: “Yeah, exactly. And it was kind of a tight race because Yao Ming was like the next generation big; and we in the same class. I’m like this high school kid, you know what I’m saying?”
