Indiana Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle was impressed with rookie Ben Sheppard during last night’s 127-122 preseason overtime loss vs. the Memphis Grizzlies (15 points/11 in 3rd quarter).

(via Indiana Pacers):

Reporter: “Ben Sheppard popped off in the 3rd quarter. Talk to me about your thoughts on that performance a little bit?”

Carlisle: “Well, I liked his approach. He’s a guy that’s always gonna play extremely hard. Somebody asked me after the game, ‘Is it sustainable that a guy can play that hard, and be a big minute player?’ And I said, ‘Well, if he’s in good enough condition; I’m sure he can do it.’ But he’s a fun player to watch because he’s energetic, he plays happy, and the way he stepped into those 3s tonight was great. Knocked the first two in, which you know for a young player, that’s gonna give you a lot of confidence.”
