As Team USA gears up for a crucial showdown with Italy in the FIBA World Cup quarter-finals today, they’ve received a boost of support from an NBA champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist, Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors.
Green, who has tasted success with the national team in the 2016 and 2020 Olympics, took to X to express his support.
He tweeted, “Looking forward to watching the guys win the WC! I know how it feels to be on that island over there alone and the whole nation flip on you! Let’s rock fellas!!” accompanied by nine American flag emojis.
Team USA, the tournament favorites, are determined to reclaim the gold medal after a disappointing 7th-place finish in the 2019 World Cup.
With a record of 4-1 in this year’s competition, including a lone loss to Lithuania in the second round, the Americans still remain a team to beat.
