Following Brandon Miller’s recent revelation that his GOAT (Greatest of All Time) in basketball is Paul George, former NBA star Dwyane Wade shared his perspective on the matter.

During an interview on Sports Seriously, Wade stood firm in his belief that Michael Jordan remains his ultimate GOAT due to the profound influence Jordan had on his playing style and early career.

Wade said, “My GOAT has always been Michael Jordan because I grew up… look at the way I played – I tried to emulate Michael Jordan. These are all GOATs in my eyes. To me, it’s hard to call one GOAT. It’s a room of GOATs… Michael Jordan is in that room. One of my GOATs. One of my friends, LeBron James, is in that room. It’s a lot of GOATs in the room. Everybody can get in there.”

While Wade acknowledged having other favorite players like Allen Iverson and Kobe Bryant, he maintained that Jordan’s impact on him as a young athlete was unparalleled. Emulating Jordan’s skills and mentality on the court, Wade drew inspiration from the Chicago Bulls legend, solidifying his place as the top player in his eyes.

As for Miller’s choice of Paul George as his GOAT, Wade commended the 20-year-old rookie’s respect for the current Clippers star. He remarked, “And I think for [Brandon Miller], he didn’t get to see Michael Jordan play. He was probably at the tail end of watching Kobe’s dominance. He probably seen Kobe towards the later parts of his career.

“Yeah, he’s watched the guy that plays the way that he feels he can play, that has the same body type, that has the same game as him and analyses his game after that. That’s a lot of respect for Paul George that he said that. He’s No. 2 pick in the draft and Paul George is his GOAT while PG is still playing. That’s dope.”

Wade expressed admiration for Miller’s boldness in naming his GOAT, especially while George is still an active player in the league. The 2nd overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft showed immense confidence and appreciation for George’s skills and gameplay, a sentiment that resonated positively with Wade.
