Ever since Trae Young and Luka Doncic were traded for each other on draft night, the two dynamic point guards have been subjected to constant comparisons.

Doncic’s impressive performances and accolades often overshadow Young, leading to ongoing debates about who is the better player. However, Young has learned to shrug off the comparisons and focus on his own game.

In a conversation with Draymond Green, Young revealed that he no longer stresses over the constant comparisons. He believes that winning a championship will showcase his true abilities and open more eyes to his accomplishments

Despite the comparisons, Young holds no animosity towards Doncic and maintains a close relationship with him. He acknowledges that they have different playing styles and physical attributes but emphasizes that they both possess exceptional skills and can excel on the court.

“I don’t even stress over it no more,” Young told Green. “I know the real ones get it. I feel like for me, once I win a championship, it’ll even open up more eyes to what I’ve really done. Especially to some of my peers that I’m compared with.

“To be honest with you, I have no hate towards nobody, especially Luka. We talk all the time. We got a lot of love for each other, a lot of respect for each other. There’s different agendas and different– the way people look at certain people is different.

“To be honest, I don’t get caught up into it. I feel like eventually people are going to understand what it is and realize that it’s not that far off. We kind of do the same things. We’re different in size, but he can play, I can play. We can both hoop. So at the same time that’s just what it is.”

Young’s 2022-23 season statistics of 26.2 points and 10.2 assists per game demonstrate his impact as a playmaker, while Doncic’s averages of 32.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 8 assists highlight his all-around brilliance.
