Erazem Lorbek, Slovenian power forward/center, who played for Lottomatica Roma last season and was selected to All-Italian 1st team, confirmed rumors about his signing for Russian powerhouse CSKA Moscow.
“It’s nothing official yet but it’s all arranged. I’m looking forward to playing for the best European club. I’ll have Matjaz Smodis beside me with who I already played in Italy. It will be a whole new challenge for me.”
24 year-old and 210 cm high player will reportedly get 1.3 M € per season but length of the contract isn’t known yet. Some speculate it will be at least 3 years long.
Lorbek won’t play for Slovenian NT this year due to some back problems. Coach Ales Pipan called him again today to consider joining NT after injures to Matjaz Smodis and Gasper Vidmar but back injury is to risky. He needs to rest and in few weeks he’ll have MRI and further measures will be known then.
In his career he played for Jezica Ljubljana, Olimpija Ljubljana, Michigan State University, Fortitudo Bologna, Unicaja Malaga, Benetton Treviso and Lottomatica Roma. Last year he posted 14.1 ppg and 5.9 rpg in Italian Lega A.
