The Philadelphia 76ers aren’t desperate towards re-signing James Harden once the star opts out his player option and hit the free agency, per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst in the recent episode of his Hoop Collective podcast.

Added by Windhorst, though they are leaning towards having Harden back, Philly believes there would be alternates to pick in order to patch the potential exit of the future hall of famer.

“The Sixers are not desperate,” said Brian Windhorst about Sixers re-signing Harden, per RealGM. “While they absolutely want James Harden back, and I think there’s a way they can play together and still be highly successful, the Sixers have other moves they can make. If Harden walks, they have cap space. They have tradeable contracts. They have things they can do. Harden is important but not the end all and be all for the 76ers.”

Besides the Sixers, Harden is also being tagged to the Houston Rockets wherein a potential reunion is likely with the franchise owning a sizeable cap space to ink his desired contract.

Harden averaged 21 points, 10.7 dimes and 61 boards last 2022-23 season.
