The Boston Celtics star guard Marcus Smart (13 points and 11 assists) was interviewed after the Celtics dropped Game 1 to the Miami Heat 123-116 on Wednesday night. Smart said that the team’s defense was seriously lacking in addition to the team’s effort.
On the lack of timeouts from head coach Joe Mazzulla, Smart said: “Joe is real big on not bailing us out on stuff when we are playing like **** … We have to look in the mirror. It’s on us.”
Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 30 points. Game 2 is Friday in Boston.
