Being the top overall pick of the NBA Draft has been the wildest dream of Scoot Henderson, but he believes that there are much greater things planned for him should he won’t be able to attain that.

Henderson believes that should he won’t be the first overall pick of this year’s draft, it can only be considered a blessing in disguise for what lies ahead.

“I want to go No. 1 for sure, but God has a plan,” Henderson said in an interview with Andscape’s Marc J. Spears. “So, I’m trusting in God’s plan. Me and Pooh and some of the guys went to chapel the other day and we were just talking about [the future]. God does everything for a reason and as long as I continue to trust him, it’ll all pay out and work out in him.”

Henderson stands as a prized prospect that is set to enter the rookie selection this June. The G League Ignite standout possesses a modern guard tendency, combined with his immense athleticism and a high ceiling.

Amid all these, French wunderkind Victor Wembanyam remains the unanimous favorite to take the first overall pick, given the fact that the young big man has generational traits of being a lethal seven-foot-three talent.

Whatever may happen, Henderson will certainly put a chip on his shoulders that despite not being the top pick, he will come out strong to have the best career out of all his soon-classmen.
