Set to stay for nearly two years, Kyle Kuzma is loving his experience of being around and enjoying living in the Washington area.

Kuzma told NBC Sports’ Chase Hughes that residing in the D.C. area allowed him also to easily visit his family in Michigan, go to Miami, and go on vacation around Europe.

“It’s central and it’s low-key and chill. I love where I live. People are not really bothering me too much. It’s an easy pace of life out here, it’s nice,” Kuzma said.

Kuzma, 26, could enter the 2023 offseason as an unrestricted free agent should he opt out of his $13MM player option for next season. As such, he can back up his case to gain a lucrative deal as he is averaging a career-high 21.2 points to go with 7.2 boards and 3.7 assists this year for the Wizards.

Upon D.C.’s shipping of Rui Hachimura, there have been loud murmurs that the club is eyeing to regain him this summer. As such, Kuzma is just looking for a perfect chance to determine his value as he is expected to hit the free agency market.

“I have the opportunity to go through that process, go through team pitches and go through the backend of being a free agent and learning and getting to know different people,” Kuzma said. “At the end of the day, in this league, people move all the time, whether that’s coaches, GMs, players, staffs, front office people.”

“You may end up at a new place and you never know who you’re going to cross paths with. Everything is energy.”
