MUNICH (Germany) – The FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2023 field has been finalized following the conclusion of the Qualifiers, with the last five berths confirmed on Sunday.

Played over three windows in November 2021, November 2022 and February 2023, the Qualifiers saw the European national teams compete for places in the 39th edition of the continent’s flagship women’s basketball event, set to take place from June 15-25, 2023 in Tel Aviv, Israel and Ljubljana, Slovenia.

With co-hosts Israel and Slovenia qualified automatically, the rest of the 16-team field was completed by the 10 group winners and four best-ranked second-placed teams.

Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Montenegro, Serbia, Spain and Turkey booked their tickets as winners of their respective groups, while Germany, Great Britain, Hungary and Slovakia were the four runners-up to qualify.

All second-placed teams were ranked according to the Official Basketball Rules, with results against fourth-placed teams disregarded in all groups of four for purposes of the ranking.

As approved by the FIBA Europe Board, runners-up from Group F and Group I were not in contention to qualify as the best second-placed teams as a consequence of the decision to withdraw Belarus and Russia from the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2023 Qualifiers.
