LeBron James overtook Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer as the Lakers lost agains the Thunder in Crypto.com Arena (130-133).

The four-time NBA champion scored 38 points – two points more than he needed to climb atop the league’s scoring leaderboard.

After the game LeBron was given the stage to address the fans as well as other people who gathered to the arena to witness the breaking of the scoring record.

“Thank you to the Laker faithful. You guys are one of a kind,” James started his speech. “To be able to be in a presence of such a legend and great as Kareem it means so much to me, it’s very humbling. Please give a standing ovation to the captain, please.

“To my beautiful wife, my daughter, my two boys, my friends, my boys, my family, my mother, man, everybody that’s ever been a part of this run with me the last twenty-plus years. I just want to say thank you so much because I wouldn’t be me without y’all, all your help, all your passion, all your sacrifice helped me to get to this point.

“And to the NBA, to Adam Silver, to the late great David Stern I thank you guys so much for allowing to be a part of something that I’ve always dreamed about. I would never ever in a million years dreamed this even better than what it is tonight. F*ck man. Thank you guys.”
