The Euroleague Basketball Independent Appeals Panel on Tuesday partially upheld a petition from Olympiacos Piraeus to mitigate sanctions by the Independent Disciplinary Judge concerning incidents surrounding the club’s last home game, with FC Barcelona on April 23, during and after Game 4 of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Playoffs.

The independent disciplinary judge had sanctioned Olympiacos with a total fine of €97,000 and one home game played behind closed doors for the invasion of the playing area by spectators, for the lighting of fireworks inside the arena, for incidents that threatened the physical well-being of the attendees, and for failure to adopt all necessary preventive measures to avoid disturbances .

On Tuesday, the independent appeals panel agreed to reduce the fine by €75,000, to a total of €22,000, but left in place the sanction of one home game played behind closed doors, without spectators, which will correspond to the first game in Piraeus of the 2015-16 season.
