Late in the fourth quarter in a tight game between the Lakers and the Grizzlies, Russell Westbrook told head coach Darvin Ham and the team that he will guard Ja Morant.

After the game Westbrook was asked about the moment and why he took the task of guarding Memphis superstar.

“I just know I’m a very good defender and I believe in my abilities to be able to stop anybody, no matter what position and that’s it,” Westbrook said.

Westbrook, who came off the bench, scored team-high 29 points in 31 minutes of play as the Lakers edged the Grizzlies 122-121.
