The Miami Heat are looking to make necessary roster changes.

Per Sean Deveney of Heavy.com, league executives have noted that the Heat are “active as anybody” and leaning towards upgrading their frontcourt and other roster components – most especially the power forward position.

“With the NBA trade deadline looming on February 9, the Heat are as ‘active as anybody,’ according to league executives, with Miami not only looking to upgrade in the frontcourt, but anywhere else on the roster, too. Power forward is the most obvious target, with the Heat losing P.J. Tucker in the offseason and playing 6-foot-5 Caleb Martin as the starter at the spot this season. Martin has played well, but there is concern that the team’s lack of size will sink them in the playoffs.”

As stated, the Heat have obvious gaps on their frontcourt, with Caleb Martin lacking such needed size for the physicality of the power forward position. The departure of P.J. Tucker left them a huge hole towards versatility and defensive department

With the season still too early, the Heat still have time to look at other potential candidates that they can lure away to help them soon.

The Heat are currently sixth in the East with a 25-21 record.
