It appears that Anthony Davis’ road to recovery has been smoothly appealing for the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to head coach Darvin Ham, plans of the team have been “coming along as planned” for Davis, with the big man being “pretty much pain-free” on his workouts.

“With AD, he’s coming along as planned,” Ham told NBA.com’s Mark Medina. “He’s getting more and more on-court work, doing 30, 45-minute, almost an hour workouts. Us having him go through those workouts, and they are intense, just to see how the foot reacts to those workouts. Lately, he’s been pretty much pain-free so once that continues for a little bit more time then we’ll see where he’s at and when he can be re-inserted into the lineup.”

Davis has been making significant progress from his foot injury which he sustained last Dec. 16 against the Denver Nuggets. Amid negativity that surrounded the entire Lakers camp since that time, optimism still reigns most especially for the franchise’s faithful.

The All-Star big man’s sudden unavailability just came down at the worst and most painful time possible. Davis was enjoying the best season of his career, averaging 27.4 points, 12.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.1 blocks, and 1.3 steals. He was also an overwhelming force at the offensive end, shooting a superior 59.4 percent from the field, and was leading Los Angeles to a gradual rise towards the Western Conference standings prior to his inactivity.

Davis’ absence gave a major blow to the Lakers, disrupting the club and keeping them dwelling towards inconsistency despite the hard carry being imposed by LeBron James. As such, they can only hope for the star center to make his return to the club soon, as they are now posing a shaky 20-24 win-loss card.
