Sasa ObradovicA star of former Yugoslavia, Sasa Obradovic is among candidates to coach the hosts of Eurobasket 2009. 1998 World Champion and 3 time European champion is now working in Germany as a head coach of Köln 99ers. The club had some serious financial problems and had to sell most of their top players. The opportnity to coach a national team is something that Obradovic would like to try.

Sasa Obradovic talked to FIBA Europe about his club and possibilities of coaching a national team. Speaking about the offer of Polish basketball federation Obradovic said: "I interviewed with them about two or three weeks ago for the job starting this summer. And now I am waiting. I'm not insisting on anything. The main thing for me if I accept is not financially. I want to have players who I can get to come to the national team – big-time players who want to play for the national team and would have an impact. But I would want the national team job as a second, part-time job, next to my work with Köln."

When asked about the possibility of becoming the head coach of his native Serbia national team, Obradovic admitted that it would be an honor for him. "That would be a great offer. Personally, being a national team coach is one of the aims in my coaching career. If I were to get the call from my national team, it would mean I did something in my career because as you know we have a lot of people who can serve in this position.
