The change of ownership at Twitter, namely Elon Musk and his group of investors buying the social media platform, was arguably the biggest news last week.

While it did not cause much of a reaction in the NBA, the league’s superstar LeBron James reacted publicly to an article claiming the increase of the use of the ‘N-word’ since Musk acquired Twitter.

James sent a tweet in response to Philip Lewis of the Huffington Post, who referred to a story by The Washington Post claiming that the use of the ‘N-word’ increased by nearly 500% since the takeover of the ownership.

“I dont know Elon Musk and, tbh, I could care less who owns twitter. But I will say that if this is true, I hope he and his people take this very seriously because this is scary AF. So many damn unfit people saying hate speech is free speech,” LeBron tweeted.

Musk responded to the Lakers star by link a post from Yoel Roth, Twitter’s Head of Safety & Integrity, who explained that the increase of slurs and other derogatory comments came from 300 inauthentic accounts.
