Barcelona’s Alex Abrines has reportedly signed a new contract with the current Liga Endesa champions that will keep him at the club until 2019.

Abrines, 21, has played a vital role with the Catalan giants this season and has been constantly linked with a possible move to the NBA where Oklahoma City Thunder own the player’s rights.

He was picked in the second round of the 2013 Draft, with the 32nd pick.

The talented guard has averaged 9.8 points per game so far in the Liga Endesa and 7.6 in the Euroleague before Barcelona lost out to Olympiacos in the Playoffs last month.

It is widely expected that Abrines will increase a lot his minutes if team-mate Mario Hezonja will play in NBA next season.

Croatian prodigy Hezonja is expected to be a high first round in this year’s NBA Draft.
