NBA legend Charles Barkley shared his thoughts on Russell Westbrook and the Lakers as the half time of the season opener between Los Angeles and Golden State.

He made a comment that the Lakers have taken the joy out of Russell Westbrook who does not seem to play with the same passion that he used to in the past. According to Barkley, it’s time for the purple and gold to move Russ.

After the game Westbrook was told about Chuck’s comments and asked what he thought about them. “I’m super blessed and lean a lot on my faith,” the former NBA MVP said. “I have a lot of great friends and family, good people in my corner that support me through thick and thin.

“When I have God in my corner, it doesn’t really matter what happens outside of that. I stay on course, stay focused, stay locked in. And that’s all I can ask. Everything else that comes around it, I continue do what I’m doing, stay locked on my craft and everything else to take of itself.”

Westbrook was then asked if he has ever been tested as much as he was over the last ten months while playing for the Lakers. “I’ve been tested my whole life,” he said. “Making it here to the NBA is a blessing, being able to wake up every morning is a blessing, and I’m thankful for every aspect and I don’t take it for granted.

“I’m just grateful to be able to be here and be able to play the game I love and try to do it with grace, with humility, with honor and I continue to do that by leaning on my faith and everything else will take of itself.”
