For being a frequent component of trade bubbles from the past, Harrison Barnes acknowledges the uncertainty of his future in the Sacramento Kings.

As such, he jokingly made it known that he is looking at his name in some reports of the notable league insiders. But as he still remains in Sacramento, he pledged to fully exert his efforts.

“You know how the NBA is,” Barnes said, via Sacramento Bee’s Jason Anderson. “I check Woj (ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski). I check Shams (Charania of The Athletic). They’ve still got me here, so as far as I’m concerned, this is where I’m supposed to be and I’m going to give it my best effort.”

Barnes, 30, has been with the Kings in 2018 upon being traded by the Dallas Mavericks. In the 2019 offseason, he inked an $85MM extension to remain in town for the next four years.

As he approaches the next season as the final year of this contract, situations are yet to be seen if he’ll be extended or be used as a trade chip by the club before the trade deadline ends. For now, he is vying to help the Kings in reaching the postseason stage for the first time since 2016.

“That’s just part of the business,” Barnes said. “I don’t really pay too much attention to that. The biggest thing is just getting ready for opening night.

“That’s my focus. The guys on this court, the coaching staff, us building that trust now so, when things get going and adversity hits, you have a base of relationships that you draw on.”

Barnes averaged 15.5 points, 5.6 boards, 2.5 dimes in 47.2 percent shooting for the Kings in the past four seasons.
