A probable extension with the Golden State Warriors is creating a raucous buzz around him, but Jordan Poole made it known that he is very much focused on what lies ahead to them as the defending champs of the league.

Though he is inclined on playing hoops, Poole is optimistic that a deal will be hammered soon.

“We did what we needed to do last year. Got a championship as a team, and obviously that’s something that’s out there, but I’m going to let my reps handle that,” Poole said, as provided by Shayna Rubin of Santa Cruz Sentinel. “I have confidence that we’ll work something out. I’m just here to play basketball and excited to be back with the team.”

Poole stands as a candidate for rookie scale extension this offseason, but if he and the Warriors fail to reach an agreement, he’ll be an unrectricted free-agent next summer.

The microwave guard is entering the final year of his rookie contract. As such, he delivered huge contributions last season, while providing major glimpses of being the franchise’s future cornerstone in the future by averaging 18.5 points, 4.0 dimes and 3.4 boards in 76 games.

“I got the utmost confidence in myself as always,” Poole said. “But the decision, we’ll know in a couple weeks after we get back from Tokyo, and then we’ll just play it by ear.”

As the highest paying team across the association, Golden State are currently in dilemma of how they will retain their partnership with their championship core. But certainly so, Poole’s case is a priority on their side.
