Jason Kidd recently told Matt Barnes & Stephen Jackson why he dyed his hair blonde with the Phoenix Suns back in 2000.

(Via All The Smoke):

“That’s what happens when you’re bored and hurt. I broke my ankle during that season. We had three screws put in, and I’m bored. So I’m sitting there going, ‘Man, shoot.’ Someone said, ‘Hey, have you ever dyed your hair?’ I go, ‘Nah. Let’s do it!’ I’m in Phoenix. I would wanna say this is ‘97 (actually was 2000). So I break my ankle and I’m out for the season. So I’m like, ‘I’m not gonna see anybody. I’m rehabbing.’ All of a sudden I dyed my hair and I go to my rehab, somehow word got around that I had dyed my hair.

“So my teammates come over to where I’m rehabbing and go, ‘We just had to come see your hair.’ And I said, ‘Well, I appreciate you. You didn’t even ask how I’m doing, but OK. Oh well.’ So they check out my hair and they’re laughing, they’re killing me. And I’m like, ‘This was a bad idea.’ Well it gets worse because now I’m starting to feel better and I’m like, ‘I think I can play in the playoffs.’ So we play the Lakers and I have my hair still dyed. They asked me if I was gonna cut it off. I said, ‘Man, I’ve gone this far. I might as well keep going.’ So I played in the playoffs with my hair dyed. Different experience. I can say I checked that box off.”
