Based from what he understands, Andre Iguodala won’t tolerate any slander and accusations being thrown against his young, promising mentee in Jonathan Kuminga.

Speaking in his Point Forward podcast with former league wingman Evan Turner, Iguodala dismisses the controversy surrounding on Kuminga. He added that the high-flying forward is putting up work that “he supposed to do this summer.”

“My young fella, I’m on his head,” Iguodala said. “He took some licks from Stephen A. I don’t know how warranted they were because from what I heard, he’s been doing what he supposed to do this summer.”

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith revealed that Kuminga is reportedly “shortchanging” the Warriors, citing lack of discipline and attitude problems on the 19-year-old.

“I’m worried about Kuminga. I’m hearing too many things about him off the court in terms of his head. The level of discipline he lacks. You understand?

“Some of the foolishness. I’m not getting in his personal business. I’m not saying nothing like that. I’m talking attitude, I’m not talking actions. I’m saying that attitude, the level of focus, commitment, determination, just putting your head down. doing the work.

“I’m hearing that he’s shortchanging the Warriors in that regard, and he gotta get his act together, because I’m a Jonathan Kuminga fan.”

Picked by the eventual champ Golden State Warriors for the seventh pick of the last year’s Draft, Kuminga poses All-star potential with his extreme athleticism, solid body frame, and all-around tendencies that blends well in the current NBA. He stands as one of the team’s future foundation with Jordan Poole and James Wiseman.

After playing in the last Summer League in Vegas, he emerged as Republic of Congo’s best player in its three-game field of FIBA World Cup qualifying games in Tunisia, Africa last August.
