The Golden State Warriors are reportedly having concerns on the under performances and commitment to the craft of Jonathan Kuminga.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has revealed on First Take that Kuminga is “shortchanging” the Dubs for the level of discipline he lacks and other off-court issues including attitude and determination.

(h/t Paul Kasabian of Bleacher Report):

“I’m worried about Kuminga. I’m hearing too many things about him off the court in terms of his head,” Smith reported. “The level of discipline he lacks. You understand?

“Some of the foolishness. I’m not getting in his personal business. I’m not saying nothing like that. I’m talking attitude, I’m not talking actions. I’m saying that attitude, the level of focus, commitment, determination, just putting your head down doing the work.

“I’m hearing that he’s shortchanging the Warriors in that regard, and he gotta get his act together, because I’m a Jonathan Kuminga fan.”

Kuminga, who was chosen as the seventh overall pick of last year’s draft, has shown promising flashes of an All-star potential in his first NBA campaign.

Averaging 9.3 points, 3.3 boards and 51.3 percent shooting in his rookie year across 70 games (12 starts), Kuminga gave the defending champ Golden State an encouraging vision of their future. His shredded six-foot-seven frame, elite athleticism and ability to guard multiple positions were highly praised and regarded by fans and analysts – drawing comparisons from retired versatile All-star forward Shawn Marion.

Still at 19 years of age, he currently stands as a project player for the Dubs. And the fact that the Warriors possess arguably the best growth environment with that championship pedigree from Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, Kuminga will still continue to be mentored, build his habits and develop to reach his full potential.
