Though he is still in the process of familiarization to his new position in Minnesota, president Tim Connelly already holds high aspiration and belief in Anthony Edwards.
Sitting on an interview with The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski, Connelly knows that the former No. 1 overall pick is bound to become an all-time great and one of the best players in the world when it’s all said and done with all the tools he has as a promising cager.
“We think he can be a transcendent player,” Connelly said. “We think he can be one of the best two-way players in the league. We think he can be an all-league defender. That’s a lot to put on his shoulders, but if we didn’t think he was capable of that, we wouldn’t be challenging him.”
“I do think he can be one of the best players in the world,” Connelly said. “Not just an elite guy, but a guy who is mentioned on one hand; that level of talent.”
Edwards’s talent is off the charts, but his sheer desire to elevate his game stands overwhelming.
It was revealed by Krawczynski himself that based on his close sources, Edwards was having a tremendous offseason, looking like a “monster” in fulfilling his workouts.
“I’ve had multiple people just say that he looks like a monster. We will see what happens when the lights come on when training camp comes in, and the games get going. I have heard a lot of really rave reviews about how Ant is looking.”
Having a fruitful second year with the Timberwolves wherein he appeared in his first postseason appearance, Edwards just became more thirsty towards success.
And now having a revamped lineup on his side upon the addition of Rudy Gobert, the upcoming season offers a huge promise to attain greater heights individually and collectively.
