The Phoenix Suns could be on the move on recasting their four at the starting lineup.

Phoenix believed to be confident in the capabilities of Cam Johnson to start and may likely to operate on that idea, but they’ll maintain the monitoring of other frontcourt options in the market (h/t team insider FLEX From Jersey).

This leaves Jae Crowder likely moving off the bench and serving as a backup, wherein possibilities of going out in Arizona still persist.

The 26-year-old Johnson thrived in last season with the Suns, averaging career-highs in points (12.5), rebounds (4.1), assists (1.5), field goal shooting (46.0%) and three-point accuracy (42.5%) per 26.2 minutes of play for 66 games (16 starts). His shooting and spark plug presence off the bench played an important role in the team’s clinching of a fruitful 2021-22 regular season.

The idea of Suns moving Crowder remains a murmur around the league circles, wherein the veteran has an expiring deal heading to the new basketball year. Shipping Crowder away gives the club more room to operate a well-deserved contract extension for Johnson.

With Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, Mikal Bridges and Chris Paul still locked for extended years, Phoenix continues to be ready and poised for contention, and having both Johnson and Crowder at the wing can still help for their title dreams to come true.

As such, when things get urgent, it all boils down on the team’s future and flexibility moving forward.
