Spanish national team is set to reunite with its former coach ahead of EuroBasket 2015. MARCA reports that negotiations between Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) and Sergio Scariolo are in advanced stage.
It is expected that the deal will be finalized soon. Scariolo should be presented as the new head coach of Spain this week.
Spain were without a head coach after Juan Antonio Orenga left the team following disastrous FIBA Basketball World Cup. The tournament hosts billed to at reach play in the final crashed out in quarter-finals.
Scariolo was at the helm of Spain during its most successful period. He led the team to two EuroBasket titles in 2009 and 2011 as well as silver medals in London Olympics in 2012.
Spain will start its EuroBasket 2015 campaign in Group B in Berlin alongside Iceland, Turkey, Serbia, Italy and group hosts Germany.
