The New York Knicks have had a pretty busy offseason, having already added Jalen Brunson to their roster. And, according to the New York Post’s Marc Berman, persons within the organization are hoping that the arrival of Donovan Mitchell, should it materialize, will attract yet another top name to Madison Square Garden.

Mitchell has emerged as a top target for the Knicks, who have offered the Utah Jazz a trade package consisting of Evan Fournier, Obi Toppin and five first-round picks. However, the teams are understood to have reached an impasse over the number of unprotected picks they want included in a potential deal.

Berman reports that the team believes they can secure 47 wins with Mitchell and Brunson making up their starting backcourt, while they expect Julius Randle to return to the form that saw him named the NBA’s Most Improved Player in 2021.

Mitchell is also a target for the Miami Heat, who are also one of the teams leading the race to trade for Kevin Durant. Both players, though, will command more than Miami is willing to give up in return at the moment.
