Though the Indiana Pacers will now head into a testing stage of rebuilding, they have plenty of reasons to celebrate and be optimistic with Tyrese Haliburton leading them out.

The Pacers hold a sky high regard on Haliburton, as they look forward to him being their franchise player and the second coming of their former beloved star in Reggie Miller.

“We’re gonna build our team around him,” Pacers general manager Chad Buchanan said about Haliburton, per Alex Kennedy of Basketball News. “We see him as hopefully being the next Reggie Miller. We had a Reggie Miller mural painted on a building in downtown Indianapolis, and I think our dream is that one day Tyrese will have [his own] up somewhere in downtown Indianapolis.”

Haliburton became the prized return of Indiana after shipping Domantas Sabonis to the Sacramento Kings last season. Though he himself has admitted that he was jolted on this move, he still looks forward to this new challenge of being the leader of the promising Indy club.

Upon his arrival in Indianapolis, Haliburton shined in his first 26 games with the franchise, etching up 17.5 points, 9.6 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals while having 50.2 percent efficiency from the field and 41.6 percent from three-point territory.

The departure of Malcolm Brogdon secures his place as the undisputed floor general and future of the franchise moving forward. Possessing that talented bag and limitless potential, Haliburton is set for superstardom in Hoosiers’ land.
