Zion Williamson is set to fulfill his rookie max contract with serious considerations about his body composition.

Sources told Christian Clarke of NOLA.com that the Pelicans have placed critical conditions on their max deal with Williamson. The 22-year-old star has to have “weigh-ins periodically” throughout their agreed years of extended partnership.

And should Williamson fail to maintain a combined weight and body fat percentage below 295 lbs, he will lose money from his brand-new contract.

Williamson’s deal is worth $193 million over five years, wherein he could earn more from incentives and reach the $231 million mark once he follows some NOLA’s setted prerequisites like making into the All-NBA First Team.

With this reported provision, it only allows both sides to keep themselves committed and be serious on their future. Throughout his three-year NBA career so far, Williamson’s weight concerns are making headlines around the league, wherein many consider it as his biggest obstacle in attaining superstardom as a generational talent.

If Williamson manages to be healthy and active throughout the course of his long-term stay in the Big Easy, that makes him as well as the Pelicans as a fearful championship opponent to encounter within the league landscape.

He delivered some glimpse of his legendary potential in his second year in the association, becoming a basketball beast upon averaging 27.0 points, 7.2 boards, 3.7 assists in a shocking 61 percent field goal efficiency across 61 games.

The club, even without Williamson, still managed to enter the postseason stage last basketball year. Hypothetically with a fully available Williamson for the following seasons to come, sky’s indeed the only limit.
