The Miami Heat continue to be linked to free agents this offseason, with Dennis Schroder now one of the names thought to be on their radar.

Bleacher Report suggests the Heat, who went to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, could be in for the Houston Rockets guard. Schroder played 15 games for the Rockets last term, averaging 10.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 0.8 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game while shooting 39 percent from the field and 32 percent from three.

Miami is expected to add to their backcourt, given Kyle Lowry’s struggles with injury, and adding a player like Schroder does make sense. The German is just entering his prime at 28 and can handle the ball, as well as produce off of it.

BR’s report reads:

“Kyle Lowry had a rocky first season with the Heat, as the 36-year-old missed 19 games and averaged his lowest scoring output since the 2012-13 season (13.4 points per game). While third-year guard Gabe Vincent did an admirable job filling in, Miami could use another veteran ball-handler as insurance for Lowry and to help keep him fresh for the playoffs.”

The Heat are also thought to be weighing up a move for Kevin Durant following the All-Star’s trade request last week. Miami is thought to be one of his preferred destinations and it will be interesting to see what Pat Riley does in light of this.
