Former NBA player and current analyst Jay Williams is not buying the rumors that Kyrie Irving could leave the Nets after reports that he has not talked with the team about a contract extension.

“There is zero chance that Kyrie Irving plays for another team next year other that the Brooklyn Nets. Zero. Zero,” Williams said on Keyshawn JWill & Max. “Like, all this is fabricated, all of this is made up.

“This is negotiation tactics. This is ‘Hey, trying to squeeze and get a little bit more money.’ If that’s the Nets being a little unsure what are amendments in your contract that we can make sure that you play a certain amount of games.”

Williams also dismissed rumors that Irving is interested in playing for the Knicks, reminding that he had that opportunity earlier and turned it down.

He also did not think that it would make sense for the Lakers to get Kyrie either, considering that it will Darvin Ham’s first year as a head coach.
