The latest candidate to possibly fill the Utah Jazz’ head coaching void is a former microwave cager off the bench and an NBA champion.
Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium has provided on Friday that the Jazz have gained permission to conduct an interview on retired player and current Grand Rapids Gold coach Jason Terry.
Also noted by Charania, Terry is widely being considered by several NBA teams for a potential assistant coaching gig.
Terry, 44, suited up in 19 seasons within the association. Famously known as “The Jet” by the fans and fellow contemporaries, he was a remarkable reserve spark plug with that offensive skill set and elite marksmanship, ultimately named as the 2009 Sixth Man of the Year winner. He also helped the Dallas Mavericks to clinch its maiden title in 2011, averaging 18 markers and over three assists in the six-game championship series over the heavily-favored LeBron James and the Miami Heat.
Terry previously served as an assistant in his alma mater Arizona before landing a head coaching opportunity in the G League via Grand Rapids last year.
The Jazz are continuing their hunt for their newest bench boss upon the resignation of Quin Snyder. Other notable candidates include former Los Angeles Lakers coach Frank Vogel and New York Knicks assistant Johnnie Bryant.
