Miami Heat super reserve Tyler Herro (groin) won’t be available to play in Game 6 of their Conference Finals matchup with the Boston Celtics (h/t ESPN’s Cassidy Hubbarth). The announcement was given by head coach Erik Spoelstra.
“These are not easy decisions,” Spoelstra said about the shutting down of Herro. “He has made progress but he’s not ready to step into this type of intensity.”
Herro was initially listed as questionable to play this Game 6; He was even reportedly trying to convince his team’s doctors and coaching staff that he can suit up. Eventually, the talented guard is set to miss his third-straight game against the Cs.
Holding a 3-2 series margin, the Celtics can eliminate the Heat and advance to the NBA Finals in front of their home turf. As such, Herro’s continuing absence is a huge void to consider for the East’ top-seeded club, knowing that Jimmy Butler severely needs an aid in the offensive side to force a Game 7 back in Florida.
Throughout the 2022 playoffs, the reigning Sixth Man of the Year is averaging 13.5, 4.1 boards, 2.9 assists in 41 percent shooting.
