The Los Angeles Lakers have interviewed Terry Stotts with regards to their vacant head coaching position, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has provided on Friday.

Stotts, 64, is an offensive-oriented tactician who co-led the Portland Trail Blazers together with star point guard Damian Lillard. He compiled the second highest head coaching wins in franchise history with 402, and led them to eight-straight playoff appearances including a trip to the 2019 Conference Finals.

After almost a decade of partnership, he parted ways with the Blazers in the last offseason.

Stotts was a protege of soon-to-be hall of famer George Karl. He also managed to coach the Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks in the 2000s and clinch his first NBA title as an assistant under Rick Carlisle-led Dallas Mavericks way back 2011.

After a depressing 2021-2022 campaign, the Lakers have decided to remove Frank Vogel in their top coaching helm. They are still on the hunt for who will take the coveted open slot.

As such, the ongoing search is still under the control of Rob Pelinka with further influence of owner Jeanie Buss, adviser Kurt Rambis and former coach Phil Jackson.

Los Angeles have already expressed their interest in handful of candidates, including Bucks assistant Darvin Ham and broadcaster Mark Jackson.
