The Los Angeles Lakers are continuing the search for the best candidate to take over their top coaching helm.

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium detailed on Wednesday that L.A. have requested to conduct an interview on Toronto Raptors lead assistant Adrian Griffin.

Griffin, 47, is a former professional cager who suited up in eight seasons with four different clubs in the NBA. After his retirement in 2008, he then found himself on the sidelines, becoming an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Orlando Magic and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Griffin eventually joined the Raptors’ coaching huddle in 2018, playing an integral part on the team’s maiden title the following year as Nick Nurse’ top assistant.

The Lakers are taking their time this offseason to find their newest head strategist. After a tumultuous 2021-2022 campaign and the failure to reach the postseason, they decided to part ways with Frank Vogel.

Los Angeles initially filed a request to interview Milwaukee Bucks assistant Darvin Ham for their head coaching opening.
