The Warriors survived in Game 1 of the second round series against the Grizzlies, winning it by a single point (117-116). The game went down to the wire.

With 37 seconds left to play in the fourth quarter Golden State was trailing by two points (114-116) when Klay Thompson hit a three-pointer to give his team a minimal advantage.

Memphis failed to score on their next possession and they fouled Thompson with 6.7 seconds on the clock. The three-time NBA champion was awarded two free-throws that could have given the Warriors a comfortable advantage.

However, he missed both of them, giving a chance for the Grizzlies to win the game. But Ja Morant missed a potential game-winner and the Dubs celebrated the win.

After the game Thompson talked about the missed free-throws. “I got a great look and that felt good to make that [three-pointer]. But unfortunately missing two free-throws is very uncharacteristic to me but I’m human.

“I’ve learned from so much experience that you have to move forward. We still had the lead, we still had time on the clock and we had to get a stop. I’m proud of myself for turning that page and just focused on defensive end.

“And I learned in life you can’t go back and I did miss those free throws. I was very disappointed in myself. But I quickly forgot about them and realized we have a chance to win this game in four seconds. So it sucks, but we won, and that’s all that really matters.”
