It seems that Russell Westbrook will not stay with the Lakers for another year. A report recently suggested that it is impossible for the 33-year-old to continue wearing the purple and gold next season.

NBA insider Brian Windhorst thinks that the Lakers should trade the former league MVP for any three players and attempt to upgrade their roster.

“Westbrook’s gotta be traded!” Windhorst said on Get Up. “He’s got to be traded for any three breathing players because he will be an expiring contract that will actually have some value. You go to a team that needs to clear some money off of their cap.

“Then battle royale between LeBron and the front office: the 2027 first round pick, the 2029 first round pick. Will they put those in play this summer to try to upgrade this roster with LeBron one year left on his contract with an extension on the table? Wait and see.”

This season Westbrook is averaging 18.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.2 assists in 34.4 minutes per game for Los Angeles.
